Sian Ka’an
The Mayan Riviera boasts an abundance of different activities for those wishing to venture off the resort.
This one is worth putting your clothes on for.
Many guests at Hidden Beach enjoy nature, but not necessarily extreme sports. Sian Ka’an biosphere offers you a unique opportunity to experience the true splendor of the Mayan Riviera without dangling from a jagged cliff face, inching down narrow ruin steps or whipping along a narrow zip line over the tree tops.
Sian Ka’an is an ecological reserve offering tours that guide you delicately through the raw, natural beauty of the Mayan Riviera. Their popular day tour includes a visit to the lagoon and Ascension Bay for bird watching and reef snorkelling. Now is the perfect time to hear the beautiful songs of some of the 360 species of birds that migrate to the area during the winter months. You will also have the opportunity to ride a bicycle, kayak, hike and snorkel in a cenote.
During the summer months you can venture into the ocean to swim alongside the docile and enormous whale shark. You may also see manta rays and dolphins. Another popular tour offers the opportunity to take a boat into the wetlands to spot Crocodiles.
Those returning from Sian Ka’an say they feel inspired, speak of the symphony of birds and say they’ll never forget the feeling of being part of the untouched nature around them.
A delicious lunch on an isolated beach and your transportation from Hidden Beach to Sian Ka’an are included in the price of each tour. Proceeds from your visit are used to fund conservation and education efforts.
Reservations for this excursion and airport transportation can be made through your Lomas Travel Representative. See your on site representative or visit www.lomastravel.com

Her name means hope, and if you ask for Esperanza during your stay at Hidden Beach, expect nothing short of it. Regardless of whether it comes to you in the form of the beach and poolside server herself or her namesake drink, the experience is likely to be delightful and refreshing. It may even leave you with a renewed sense of Esperanza.
Since the inception of Hidden Beach and for 7 years prior, at the Seaside Suites, Esperanza has warmed the hearts of countless travellers and by imparting a few mischievous details, melted a few of my ice cubes.
Smiling intently, fingers woven tightly together she says, "When I came to work at Hidden Beach (and heard about the hotel's concept) I didn't giggle and say oooee ooo . because, well, I like to be how the guests are." She went on to recount a sunny day at Tulum when she and a friend decided to bare all.
According to Esperanza, the guests at hidden beach are very warm people. "Those who return recognize me and I recognize them, and we're very glad to see each other again," she says, adding that British guests are especially dear to her heart.
Service, for Esperanza seems more a matter of common sense and good nature than a matter of duty. On one occasion some guests requested coconuts on a day when none were to be found at the bar. She called home, had some picked up from the local grocery store and brought them the next day. Matter of factly she poses the question, "If I can provide something that will make someone's vacation more memorable, especially something that we have in abundance, why not?"
Esperanza has a daughter and is currently expecting her second child. Everyone at Hidden Beach greatly appreciates her professionalism and friendship and wishes her all the best with her growing family.
