Full Frontal Fiesta
The month of May will be filled with festivity at Hidden Beach. The celebration of Cinco de Mayo combined with Hidden’s 5th Anniversary ensures an atmosphere ripe for spankin’ the ol’ piñata! The new lounge is well on its way to being finished and the entertainment team is busily preparing for a raucous, relentless and very, very Au Naturel month-long party.
My Perro Ate My Homework
Leave the uniforms at home! When Hidden Beach Spanish Class is in session, Hidden guests go straight to the head of the class by making everything the butt of their jokes!
Topics covered include greetings, expressions, colors, the days of the week, numbers, and everyone’s favorite, body parts. Isabel the teacher asks,“What are lips in Spanish?” After a few moments of silence, a student suggests, “boca?” “Nope,” says Isabel, “boca is mouth, labios are lips.” Two students exchange a smirk and a knowing look. One whispers to the other, “Which lips are we talking about here?” Later Isabel can’t help but smile when the same trouble makers volunteer “hippos,” as the possible translation of “hips,” justifying the guess by adding, “In my case it makes sense!”
Thank goodness laughter transcends the language barrier!

Norberto Pérez
Although he spends most of his time behind the scenes at Hidden’s La Vista restaurant, this 22-year-old cook is on his way up. In just a year and half, Noberto has worked his way through three promotions. His goal? “Boss,” he says.
Far away from his home in Chiapas, Norberto resides with his wife and 3-year-old daughter in the town of Tulum, a short distance from Hidden. Whereas he once read poetry in his spare time, life in the Mayan Riviera has quickly converted him into a beach lover. On his day off you’ll likely find him there, though he says he is simply too shy to go bare.
Given his shyness, one might assume he blushed his way through his first day of work at Hidden Beach. “Not so,” says ambitious Norberto, “I was way too busy to notice the nakedness.” Since then he keeps up the hectic pace and welcomes opportunities to learn English from guests. “I started with omelet ingredients at breakfast,” he says. “I’d ask guests how to say huevo and they would tell me egg etc., then I moved on to fruit and veggies.” Melons, grapefruits, apples, kiwis and cucumbers… Whether pure ambition drives him to learn or he’s subconciously been inspired by Au Naturel guests, we wish him all the best.
